The role of the patron is essential in the mission of film evangelization. You are a critical pillar of the tried and true TRIFECTA formula that was used back in the 1500s. This approach saved the faith through art. This team of three, consisted of the Patron who financed the commission, the Theologian who guided and the Artists who crafted the work.
Still the Patron who finances the work is critical. And on a film production every type of skill set is needed, which means more opportunities to be involved. If you're wondering if your skill set has a place in filmmaking, contact us. When you volunteer your skill, the Lord will out do you in generosity.
The artist couldn't do it alone. The Theologian couldn't do it by themselves and neither could the patron. They all needed each others gifts to create a beautiful work in a public space to inspire everyone.
This Trifecta of gifts worked together for a single goal. Sanctity. Their goal was evangelization and seeking Holiness. In this simple act of bringing glory to God through ART lives changed and faith deepened.
The theologians, patrons, and artists weren't perfect people, but they strove to live the Gospel message. And that's why God blessed the work. Doing something beautiful for God changed the members of the Trifecta as well.
Making films this way is what we are fostering here at Lumen. This different approach will catch on as we train other filmmakers this Christ centered process. It's joy filled. It's contagious. We need financial support to train filmmakers today.
This approach can not be done by halves. It has to be an ALL IN scenario. The battle is Raging. But wherever sin prevails Grace prevails all the more. God works his grace through our nature. So let us do our part. We need to call down the Holy Spirit. Ask him to sanctify our work and then we put the film out for all to see.
So I ask you to become part of this Catholic Film Renaissance with whatever gift God has given you.
To paraphrase what a insider recently told me,
'The industry is egocentric. And want the values of the industry known.'
